Pilates is globally recognized for injury recovery. Many post-op patients, athletes, and injured persons are sent to physical therapy where oftentimes they are always instructed to tak pilates classes. Pilates helps manage and stabilize pain, making it its own type of rehabilitation for the body. Whether the injury is new or has been lingering, many people acknowledge Pilates for their recovery. When an injury presents itself in a Pilates studio, there are modifications to each movement that will allow almost anyone to participate. Pilates is also known to relieve back pain by stretching the spine one vertebrae at a time using the straps on the reformer.
